Our History

In the early 1980s, a group of people connected to the Greek Sugar Industry decided to purchase land on Mount Vermio in Imathia prefecture, specifically in the village of Xirolivado. The group consisted of 100 members and the land purchased comprised approximately 5,000 stremmas of forest and 110 stremmas of residential land.

An agricultural consortium was immediately established, which later became mandatory under applicable legislation. Named «Elata», headquartered in Koumaria, Imathia, where Xirolivado belongs, under the jurisdiction of the Veria Forest Service.

The consortium attracts a variety of investments and contracts including quarrying, logging, grazing, event organisation, renewable energy, and more.

The name: «Elata»

Named after the towering fir trees that dominate the Vermio forest · a symbol of strength and endurance.
